Sawasdee is a Thai greeting like hello, hola, ni hao, ciao etc. To add extra politeness to the greeting, you should say ‘Sawasdee krub’ if you are a man, and ‘Sawasdee ka’ if you are a woman. If you are a gender fluid, use either one as you wish.

Thai Town Business community is extremely proud to present ‘Sawasdee Thai Town,’ the event on the weekend of 8th and 9th February 2020 as part of the City of Sydney’s Lunar Festival celebration.

On this special weekend, all Thai restaurants and beer gardens in Thai Town are offering a discount from 10-15%, or complementary dishes. Other Thai businesses and services such as Thai massages, hair salons, Thai groceries, travel agencies and more will also be involved in promotional offers.

What to expect on the SAWASDEE THAI TOWN weekend:

We will take you through all regions of Thailand, where you can try flavours of Northern Thai food, Southern, North-eastern (I-san) and Central Thai food in the restaurants with special discount prices.

Our Thai market has an abundance of stalls featuring art and crafts, goodies and more inside the hall of Metro Marlow hotel, in the middle of Thai Town.

Street decorations, a Thai dance parade with beautiful traditional Thai costume, Thai mascots, games, music and shows will all be on display.

There’s more! You might be lucky enough to win a trip to Thailand! As our co- sponsors, Thai Airways international and Tourism Authority of Thailand are giving away prizes in the ‘Lucky Draw’, together with the Royal Thai Consul- General office. They will be at the event to provide information about Thailand visas and other consular services on the day.
